Here we are once again celebrating the life and legacy of one of America's greatest and most influential heroes, Martin Luther King, Jr. Honestly I have never made a point to do anything in particular on this special day. When I was working outside the home all I did was use that day off as a day of rest. However, this year, I am making a concerted effort to do something. Besides talking with my children about his life and accomplishments, I will take advantage of a few of the events that are going on in my area. If you live in the greater Cleveland, OH area, click on this link http://cleveland.about.com/od/events/a/mlkday.htm to find out about some of the (mostly free) events happening in the city. If going to an event isn't your speed, go to the library and check out a book about him. Or tell a child/teen about him (quiet as it's kept, too many of our young people have no idea who he was and how he impacted this country). Just do something. Don't waste it away the way I used to.
